If you are trying to load an mplayer/mencoder-created AVI into VirtualDub and you get this error:
May 31, 2009 VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for Windows. It is free and open source and is released under the GNU GPL license. To get started with using Virtualdub, download and install it from virtualdub.org.By default, Virtualdub does not come with any video compression codecs built in, because of licensing restrictions.
**Couldn’t locate decompressor for format ‘FMP4’ (unknown)**VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only ‘Direct Stream Copy’ is available for this video.
This may be because mencoder’s libavcodec sets the AVI’s fourcc code to FMP4. (Perhaps you don’t have a decompressor for FMP4 exactly?) A hack is to force it to use XVID, which is practically identical:
Browser cleaner, Windows service manager, uninstaller, scheduler, etc. Scan options for registry fix include system software, fonts, shared libraries, startup entries, virtual devices, history, etc. Ccleaner for mac compare avg antivirus. Could be of good use as well. Additional tools inside Defencebyte, e.g. 4of 13Computer Optimizer app by an Australian software company defencebyte, which contains a registry cleaner tools among other useful functions.
mencoder input.avi -o output.avi -ovc copy -oac copy -ffourcc XVID
