Version:4.11 (D12-09/15/2004) (12 Oct 2004)
ProLiant ML310 ROM D12 (09/15/2004)
Updated to integrate the latest Intel processor support code into the System ROM. This works around an issue with the Intel Xeon processor that could cause unexpected behavior or system hang.

Version:4.10 (D12-06/23/2004) (16 Jul 2004)
ProLiant ML310 ROM D12 (06/23/2004)
Updated to integrate the latest Intel processor support code into the System ROM. This works around an issue with the Intel Xeon processor that can result in erratic system behavior after prolonged usage. The failures were identified in a small percentage of Intel Xeon processors during simulated long-term reliability testing. These issues have only been seen in Intel's simulated environment, and no field issues have been identified. While the nature of the failure for systems experiencing this issue is difficult to quantify, systems may experience systems hangs, Windows blue screen, or Linux kernel panics. HP recommends customers transition to this new BIOS version to prevent the aforementioned issues.

Version:4.09 (D12-05/01/2004) (26 May 2004)
ProLiant ML310 ROM D12 (05/01/2004)
Resolved the following:
  • Issue that would potentially cause the ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack version 1.40 or later to cause a hang resulting in the message 'Parity Check 2 System DIMM Memory' being displayed on the machine. The error may occur while deploying an image with a size of 2GB or greater and 4GB of RAM installed in the system.

  • Intermittent issue which may manifest itself as a Windows blue screen, Linux kernel panic (kernel oops), or a system lock-up after which the OS is halted and requires a reboot. These OS problems may occur during installation of the HP ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) or anytime after installation. This problem is seen more frequently with higher speed processors.

The Windows blue screen failure code may vary but the most frequently observed bug check stop code values are as follows:

      0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
      0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
      0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
      0x0000001A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
      0x000000C2 BAD_POOL_CALLER
      0x0000007E SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

The Windows failure occurs when running the HP ProLiant Advanced System Management Controller Driver or the HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver. The failure can occur when the system is idle or under load.

Under Linux, the nature of the kernel panic is varied, but the following conditions are typical:

Kernel Oops initiated only by Processor 0.
Kernel Oops most often affects kernel threads (kswapd, bdflush, keventd or kjournald).
Kernel Oops occurs under stress situations where all processors are under load.

The Linux failure occurs when the hpasm module is installed and running.
