Upgrading processor for ASUS CM5571 mobo?

(23 posts)

Hello, after downloading Call of Duty: Black Ops and finding my CPU is not fit for running it (it freezes in fullscreen mode, and fails to connect), I am looking to upgrade the processor. The site requirementslab.com accurately reported my processor did not meet the minimum requirements to run this game.

In short, which CPUs are compatible with my ASUS motherboard that can run newer games? Thanks in advance.

Need a litle more info.
Make and model of Mobo.
The number you posted is the system itself.

http://www.piriform.com/speccy This may help you find more system information.

Speccy info here. I couldn't find the exact info. It is OEM.

You might have to open the case and look for the model number on the mobo itself.
Even doing that you might find the mobo number is proprietary to Asus.
Sometimes that's what you run into when you purchase an OEM system

Well with the socket type being LGA775, will any CPU with that socket type work?

The pinout will match but the CPU itself might not match critical specs of the mobo. You might luck out or you might burn a processor and mobo in one shot

I found this

It has the same socket type. What are the critical specs to compare that you speak of?

@germ-x, Not familiar with this topic much. Does this help?

Somewhat, except it does not show the compatible processor.

Question. Using this support to refer to which mobo I have exactly, what does the chipset model P45/P43/G45/G43 mean? Does it mean any CPU that is compatible with any of those chipset models will work?

Geo5 crack. . After you finished installation, just copy the crack files avaible in crack folder to your installation files. Run the patch. Enjoy! In case there is a bug, in the GEO5 Geotechnical Software folder you will find a file with a multitude of keygen, a crack and a patch update. Simple as that. After that, run, use and enjoy our download.

Send Asus an eamil or call them and give them model and serial number of your system. They probably will tell you to do a mobo upgrade or they might suggest a decent replacement.

I did contact them via chat support. It may be difficult finding one compatible for my machine since it is around 2.5 years old. I'm going to look up the mobo number.

Upgrading a CPU on an older computer is seldom a cost effective way to upgrade a computer. I am sure that once upgraded there will be other parts requiring upgrade in order to play your games satisfactorily. Sound and video come to mind.

Tilting at Wind Mills I would say. :) :)

Thanks for the link. The trick is to either find a CPU compatible for this machine, or invest in a new machine. Predicament here is, I don't NEED a new machine to do other tasks (homework, etc). I just want the performance upgrade so I can play more graphic-intensive games.

Probably less money and trouble to buy a gaming machine. Trusted senior members don't think a CPU upgrade will help you. I would listen to their advise.

All right, I may just go with that. My machine is only 2.5 years old and I think users generally upgrade every 4 years, but I am not sure.

Is this the mobo for my machine?

What is your take on overclocking the processor I have already (Intel Pentium E5400)? Can I push the CPU to perform better at running games? I have a GPU to back up the video, albeit a little dated (ATI Radeon 4350).

I would try the ATI video card as a first option since you already have one. You should see a vast improvement

I think g-x is right. Your problem is most likely the graphics card and not the CPU.
