More than fifty million netbooks have been sold since the phenomenon's beginnings in late 2007, and of those, only a small fraction run Windows 7. With cheap licenses available in family packs and academic discounts, and XP installs increasingly decrepit, ugly, and vulnerable to malware, lots of Windows 7 upgrades are going to happen. However, a quick install from a USB DVD-ROM or thumb drive won't let users get the most out of a netbook. As with the Hindu Saptapadi wedding vows, there are seven steps to optimizing your netbook for maximum Windows 7 performance.
Take the first step: Install the best available drivers

It is not charging in win 7 from 46% of charge. So, I tested it in Ubuntu and there was no problem in charging. So, after a little while, I switched back to window and same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My laptop is Lenovo G570.

Even if nothing shows up as lacking a driver in the device monitor, this doesn't mean everything's OK. While the Windows 7 driver library is extensive, it doesn't always have the best available driver. On a machine as low-powered as the netbook, with so small a battery, driver differences on small items like the webcam can make a big difference in battery life. Sometimes, missing SM Bus drivers can prevent you from adjusting screen brightness and the like, without putting a yellow flag in the device manager. With so few CPU cycles to go around, small, driver-level performance optimizations can go a long way too. So don't get complacent; visit your manufacturer's website to get the latest Windows 7 (or Vista) drivers.

While you're at the manufacturer's website, search for any vendor-specific power-management tools, like ASUS's Super Hybrid Engine. These tools can sometimes make a great deal of difference, and forgetting to carry them through in your upgrade can be a big mistake.
Take the third step: Turn off Aero and other graphical hotness

While many netbooks are technically capable of running Aero, even those with NVIDIA's Ion GPU may experience some stutter problems, and at any rate the extra power consumption and CPU cycles will be bad for battery life. Search the start menu for 'adjust the appearance' and select 'Adjust the Appearance and Performance of Windows.' In the menu that appears, disable the features you won't miss.
